n Seggiano, there is an olive tree that lives and grows suspended in an ancient cistern – the world's first experimental science project to put the principle of plant communication methods into practice. Since November 2014, the specimen, which belongs to the native olive cultivar Olivastra Seggianese, has been growing roots inside the cistern and has been fed using the aeroponic system, i.e. nebulization with a mixture of substances with roots suspended.
