The Oratory of Saint Rocco was built as an ex-voto following a plague epidemic between 1486 and 1490 in place of a pre-existing votive shrine outside the walls. The barrel-vaulted terminal scarsella is frescoed with images of the Eternal Father and the Evangelists, while the walls are painted with the Madonna and Child and Saints Bartholomew, Bernardine of Siena, Rocco and Sebastian by the Sienese painter Girolamo Di Domenico. There are also numerous graphic engravings that refer to the War of Siena, such as: "May 20th 1555, the Spanish imperial army passed through here".
