Built in 1872 at the expense of the philanthropic spouses Giuseppe and Teresa Valeri, the Church of Saint Joseph was donated to the Stimmatine Franciscan nuns, and the adjacent college was used for the education of girls. The square stone building is decorated in neoclassical style and connects Piazza di Castello with the 19th century viaduct-bridge. The austere elegance of the façade is punctuated by lateral pilasters with Ionic capitals supporting the large frame, on which a pediment decorated with a festoon of vegetation in high-relief rests.
